Fab Lab Connect brings resources to the Fab Lab network.

Fab Lab Connect offers a Fab project funding platform that showcases Fab Lab social & business innovation projects. Fab Lab Connect runs challenges to get projects funded and mentored by sponsors to benefit the individual, the team and the community.

  • Track 1 - New idea, concept or design
  • Track 2 - Project with a basic working prototype
  • Track 3 - Project ready for replication, commercialization, and/or social change
  • Track 4 - Fab Lab workshop project (Workshop is defined as a set of hands-on activities in Fab Labs designed for participants to learn and start fabricating. Workshops can provide the best practices for the operation and running of a Fab Lab.

You are on the front wave of a new, international movement in personal fabrication—and therefore you would be considered an “early adopter. The cheapest and fastest method to get a fab lab is to buy and assemble it yourself. This approach does require that you have some good expertise on hand to help you set up, install, debug and train. There are a few other ways to get a lab, but they are more expensive and require some contractual transactions.

The Fab Academy is a Digital Fabrication Program directed by Neil Gershenfeld of MIT’s Center For Bits and Atoms and based on MIT’s rapid prototyping course, MAS 863: How to Make (Almost) Anything. The Fab Academy began as an outreach project from the CBA, and has since spread to Fab Labs around the world. The program provides advanced digital fabrication instruction for students through an unique, hands-on curriculum and access to technological tools and resources.
